Rick Riordan
Rick Riordan is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the Kane Chronicles, and the Heroes of Olympus. While teaching full time, Riordan started writing books for grownups. One of his books, Tres Navarre, went all the way to win the top 3 awards national awards in the mystery genre. Riordan eventually started writing books for children when his son, Haley, wanted a bedtime story about Greek gods and heroes. And Rick, who had taught Greek myths for many years in middle school, knew more than enough myths but eventually ran out. And once he ran out his son asked him to make up something new with the same basic characters. So Rick taking ideas from the projects he had given students made up a character named Percy Jackson, but Percy's character trait was like his sons, and told his story but it took up 3 nights. After completing his told him to write a book and with the little spare time he had he wrote The Lightening Thief . It became such a big hit that he decided to write more books. Once he had completed the series he started writing the series of Heroes of Olympus, and the Third book is the Mark of Athena!
